I feel so lucky to have come across this song a few years back. It was written by Beth Niesen Chapman, one of my favorite songwriters and singers.
For those of you who don't know me, I'm a huge fan of Christmas, as was my mom, Tilly Nolis. Tilly instilled in me love of Christmas decorating. Sadly, my mom passed away over 4 years ago. No one loved the Christmas holiday season like my Mom.
When Tilly died, a part of me died with her. But amazingly, after a couple of years without her, my mom is with me more than ever-in my heart and soul. This song makes me think of all the years that I would drive back to my home town of Endicott, NY, and the porch light would invariably be on with my mom and dad waiting for my arrival, and the arrival of family and friends for what was always a very merry Christmas.
I hope anyone who has ever gone home to their hometown after many years can relate to this incredible song.
It was recorded live in Nashville, TN, with the great pianist Catherine Styron Marx and my dear sound engineer and guitarist Cliff Goldmacher.
